You cannot have a war on drugs when the major reason for illegal drugs is that the public demands they have access to them. The drug cartels in essence are only filling a demand. Nobody forces the public to use illegal drugs. Yet as with even legal drugs, they are hooked on them and demand them.
The real war should be examining the reasons why the public uses drugs so much...both legal and illegal. What is enabling and enforcing this abusive life-style? The cartels become diminished if the demand for their wares decreases. Dah.
