Not for nothing (as we outer boroughs guys say) - Not for nothing, the amount of preparation that must have gone into this blitzkrieg, this Operation Barbarossa - Deep State has been extraordinary. Even I, a Trump defender in the face of his many deficiencies exposed 2017-2021 - even I am very surprised.
His team, whoever they are, must have had inside help. Hopefully, they've got State Security locked down, because even though the old crew is on the back foot right now, they won't be passive for long.
Great post. Trump is busy laying waste to the misconceptions and lies that have influenced American culture and our external outlook for the last 25 years. Obviously it's driving nearly all of the left and most of the establishment right absolutely crazy because their livings and social standing are associated with what is being razed, but in the long run I think this moment will be viewed as usefully transformative. As Z notes, the West been living in the past and focused on the wrong things while other major powers have moved ahead.
As an aside, the adjustment to a new reality will be agonizing for Western Europe. Through the EU they thought they were fashioning a more civilized, urbane version of the US to re-elevate them to their pre-WW2 prominence in economic and foreign affairs. Instead they are wracked with economic and demographic challenges none of them apparently have the will to actively confront and will remain subject to the machinations of the US and China abroad and reactive to Russia on their own continent.
I think the Left is getting that hard lesson in “Build Back Better” because what that always implied was the destruction of the status quo. Well in Trump 2.0 the program will be “don’t worry about the mule, load the wagon”, as they haul off the failed state ethos of the last 20 years.
Always considered Trump as being more the "Stay Puft" marshmallow man as the form of the destructor ala Ghostbusters. Hopefully he'll be more effective.

Having enjoyed Asimov in my youth, I love The Mule analogy here—just brilliant.

Nice analysis. Perhaps Vance will pick up the pieces of the new world??

If we judge Trump by his first term, he was as you described. This term is different, however, and dramatically so.
I sincerely hope you are correct and he is able to stay the course he's set so far in his 2nd term.
Chris Taylor, in 2017 warned us of "The forgotten Trump-like terror lurking in a sci-fi classic
Beware the Mule." grin
