Prince amasses more wealth and power from war and strife than peace. It is the oldest racket in the world (nice herd of oxen you have there, it would be a shame if something bad happened to it).
I'd forgotten all about Juan Guido Gaucho Guano! He's apparently hooked up with Florida international University and seems to be avoiding Uber-tier work.
With the fall of communism abroad and the long march through the institutions at home, it’s unclear to me if the State Department really views tinpot dictators like Maduro in Venezuela and Ortega in Nicaragua as enemies.
I know and understand their aversion for Putin in Russia and the Taliban in Afghanistan, but what issue would they even have with the Leftists?
The neoliberal establishment left isn’t aligned with the left as exists in other parts of the world. They r all about superficial issues like abortion, gun bans, global warming, DEI, trannys, and anti-Christianity. For example their response for global warming is to shovel money at favored companies which is used by Wall Street banks to issue debt for projects that electric rate payers will be burdened with. The simplest economic reforms that would be considered moderate in the 1930s like breaking up monopolies, banning stock buybacks, restricting risky investments by banks, r not even in the Overton Window.
We hired a Venezuelan engineer whose family had a business that was essentially taken away from them by the government. He hates the government of his birth with a passion I hadn’t seen since aJunior Highschool student Cuban Jew whose family fled from Cuba. But the Venezuelan government was smart they took over business by installing employees and management loyal to the party. So for every owner with a gripe they had dozens of loyalists who act as shock troops against any opposition. Something to think about as the public sector continues to expand here.

Great essay.
