Some films get better with age, often because they were ahead of their time in terms of style or storytelling. The Night of the Hunter is a good example. It was a flop when it was released, mostly because it was too edgy for the time. Sometimes a film gets lost in the shuffle, overshadowed by bigger films. Blade Runner is a great example, as it came out in a big year for blockbuster films.
