Thirty years ago, the death of Jordan Neeley on the New York City subway would have been a different story than it is today. Al Sharpton would have turned up to do his act, but by the early 1990's everyone was tired of the problems. Giuliani was elected in 1994 with a mandate to clean up the city. The Neeley story would have been one more example of what was wrong with New York.
