Anyone who has been part of a project that has ended poorly knows that bad projects seem to take on a life of their own. No matter what is tried to get them back on course, something seems to come along to derail them again. On the one hand, everyone can feel the thing slipping into the abyss. On the other hand, no one can come up with a way to stop the slide. It is as if there are alien forces at work.
