Greed has been a central part of the human drama since the first modern human decided to tell a story to his cave mates. The desire for something becomes so strong that it causes the afflicted to sacrifice his humanity for it. In the end, he learns, or the audience learns, that nothing is worth losing your humanity. Often, humanity is comingled with the morality of the society.
