Mark Twain supposedly said, "A lie can travel halfway around the world while the truth is still putting on its shoes." Most likely Twain never said it, but we like to attribute pithy sayings to famous people known for their pithy sayings. Whether he said it or not, it is certainly true and even more so now than in his age when the lie and the truth travelled by horseback and steamship.
