One of the earliest lessons I learned in my work life was when someone got fired because he complained about the company in front of a client. I did not know the guy well and I was not at the thing where it happened. Word went around that he had been sacked, so I asked my boss what happened. He told me the story and said, "One of the worst things you can do is talk shit about the company to customers."
