Recursion is when the definition of a concept or process depends on a previous version of itself. If you into baking your own bread, you have probably experienced recursion, as sourdough bread requires a sourdough starter, which must come from a previous version of sourdough bread. We may be seeing something similar happen within the process known as our democracy.
