On Thursday, the NFL kicked off its annual slave auction, where the teams take turns selecting players who are now eligible to play in the league. Like everything else about sports entertainment, this administrative procedure has been turned into a made-for-television extravaganza. The first round on Thursday night took over three hours for thirty-two players to be selected.
