I have said more than a few times that a good definition of art is that it holds a mirror up to the society that produces it. Maybe the mirror reflects something about the human condition, by highlighting aspects of society. It is not a perfect definition, but it is a good starting place. Graffiti is not art because it tells us nothing. At best it is decoration, and, in most cases, it is merely vandalism for the sake of vandalism.
