Babylon 5 is a mostly forgotten bit of television sci-fi content that had a successful five year run in the 1990's. It was an early attempt at long form narrative television and a deliberate attempt to improve television science fiction. The creator and producer of the series thought television science fiction failed due to a lack of long-term planning and the habit of letting the budget get away from the producers.
