High Noon is one of those movies that you need to know a little about the genre in order to appreciate why it is so highly regarded. Viewed from seventy years on, it is just another old Western in black and white. Viewed in the context of the Western, it is not just a Western but a radical film that exists within the Western genre. In other words, it is a wolf in sheep's clothing and the wolf is social commentary.
