How many times have you said or wrote that someone "authored a book" versus saying that someone "wrote a book"? If you prefer the latter, the grammar police think you are a bad person. I know this because the grammar checker in word often tries to change the word "wrote" to "authored" or "published". It says, "a more precise verb would be clearer and more impactful."
