E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial
The next film on the AFI top-100 list is E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial, which is arguably one of the best modern children's movies. I put the modifier "modern" on there to separate it from the classic Disney films. They have the advantage of being rooted in some of the oldest parts of the Western world. In terms of genuinely new material aimed at a young audience, E.T. is in the conversation for the best of the bunch.
