Somewhere back when Trump came on the scene, I started a bit where I would say, "next year we will look back at this year as a golden age." The point being is that things will just keep getting crazier. Here we are on the cusp of 2023 and Trump's run through the primaries now seems like an innocent time. Trump is now boring relative to the crazy characters we now see on the stage.
Of course, we always suffer from recency bias. We feel this age more intensely than prior ages, even the ones we directly experienced. I was too young to understand what was happening in the 1970's, but it was a crazy age. The future sponsors of Barak Obama were planting bombs and killing cops. The Black Panthers were committing acts of terrorism and people thought leisure suits were cool. A crazy age.
