I have probably made this point many times when reviewing films on the AFI-100 list of greatest films, but some films are considered great despite not being great art in the way to tend to think of art. These films lack the grand moral or philosophical points we associate with art films, and they are not trying to make social commentary. Instead, the film is just a well-executed product that stands the test of time.
