Black Love

For as long as I have been alive it has been the dream of conservatives to finally win over black people to their banner. When I was a teenager in the 1980's, prominent conservatives would head off to the NAACP to give a speech. In the 1990's the Gingrich types would make technocratic arguments to black audiences. During the Bush years, Karl Rove produced the big tent concept.

Of course, Trump was probably the most ridiculous in courting blacks. He championed the bill to throw open the prisons. He had various black stars at the White House to pose for pictures with him. He cooked up the Platinum Plan, which was a hilarious effort to buy black votes. If Trump had another daughter, he probably would have tried to marry her off to a black guy to prove he was down with the cause.
