When I was a kid, I read the Anthony Burgess novel A Clockwork Orange mostly because it had a reputation. At the time I did not get why it had that reputation, but later I learned that my copy was a censored version of the book. Around the same time, the movie was made available to VHS or at least it was picked up by the big rental places, so I could see the film version of the novel.
