A few months back I bought a fitness watch. The main reason was to keep track of my heart rate on my hill climb walks. You want to get your heart rate into a specific range, which is typically between 50% and 85% of your maximum heart rate. Your maximum heart rate is determined by your age and health. Walking up a very steep hill that is rocks and grass is a good way to do it.
